Bennett-Hemenway PTO Grant

The Bennett-Hemenway PTO has created a grant process through which teachers and parents can seek funding for innovative programs and resources intended to enrich the overall educational experience of our students.  

Application ideas can include, among other things, improvements to existing programs or resources; creation of new programs, clubs or activities; and resources to enhance teaching or learning.  

The grant process is not intended to fund proposals for the purchase of equipment normally purchased by the school or for projects that would entail construction or alterations to school property.  

In addition, applications will not be approved that contribute directly to a for-profit purpose.

Before submitting a grant, please consult school Principal Karen Ghilani to make sure it falls within approved enrichment measures.

Application Checklist

• • Teacher, parent or partnering teacher and parent completes grant application after consulting with Principal Karen Ghilani.

  • Application is submitted to PTO Board.  The application deadline is December 11th, 2020. Applications can be completed online, emailed to theboard@benhempto.org or printed and delivered to the PTO mailbox in the front office in an envelope marked "PTO - Grant Application."

  • Applications are presented to PTO members at the PTO Meeting following the application deadline. This gives parents the opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback to the PTO Board.

Approval

The PTO Board will review all applications received by December 11th of the current school year by applying the scoring process outlined in the PTO Grant Scoring document below.  The board will either grant or deny the application and notify applicant(s) of same. The Board has the right to contact applicants with questions or requests for more information during the scoring process.  The board also has the right to require applicant(s) to provide the PTO with updates on the effectiveness of the program or resource funded through the grant process.  Programs and resources deemed effective and in line with the mission of the PTO may be considered for renewal and incorporation into the PTO's general operating budget.  All approved applications will be announced and promoted through PTO publications.

Grant

Grants will be awarded as funds are available.  The Bennett-Hemenway PTO will budget for grant funding each fall.  If there is surplus in the general operating budget, the Bennett-Hemenway PTO may decide to offer additional grant funds in the spring of the current school year.  Grant funds must be used within the current school year.
